that's what happened to my friend coz she was playing with her bf's maze and he's like studying hyper-concentratedly sitting right next to her

That sounds SO wrong.

There's nothing wrong with it in the context of this thread.  When taken out of context however, it just conveys a different meaning to some people.

Haha. I cant believe you've never come across that expression before. Ryan and I aren't immature, we're just capable of seeing things from multiple perspectives. :| :P

my motivation was to beat my brother (who got 97.5) and who used to constantly taunt me with, 'You'll never be able to beat my score! HAH!' or 'You're too stupid lah'
Although he was in jest I took him seriously and studied very hard to beat him.

Added to this was the fact that I wanted to get into arts law in monash...before I saw the clearly-in ENTER for monash I never thought I could get high 90's.

I guess these are the only reasons I studied hard in year 12.

And to the question: my motivation lies not in the fact that I need a high ENTER to get into the uni course I want (although that does, in some respects, make a contribution) but merely because of the mentality to do my best in everything I do. Lifting a quote from a book I read recently, "If you want to do something, do it well, otherwise, don't bother doing it."

Imo this doesn't mean don't attempt something you think you might not do well in (as in get good results). It's just that when you try something then give it a good try, work hard for it and try to achieve.

LOL. :D I'm a stationery addict as well!! :)

I'm a stationary addict aswell. It's not fair, at the UoM book store I spend probably an hour looking at stationary.

Lifting a quote from a book I read recently, "If you want to do something, do it well, otherwise, don't bother doing it."[/b]

But what if you are obliged to do a subject (I.e. English)? Like I mean I would be cool with not having to do English back when I did VCE. The quote should be modified to say 'if you need to do a subject to do something you are passionate about, then bother about it.'
