306106 Accounting Processes and Analysis (used to be Business Process Analysis) (can anyone who's done this describe how it's like?  ;D)

Absolutely awful subject I thought. It is an accounting subject, but theres no numbers. It focuses on the flow of data/information and how these processes within the business allow things like a sale to take place. It bored the living shit out of me (I quite enjoyed ARA and ATA mind you), but it's not overly difficult. After each week I'd ask myself 'What have I actually learnt in this subject?' and I could never really answer that question. Bring your common sense to the exam and you're almost certain to get 70+ even with minimal study. Probably my least favourite subject so far at uni.

BUT YOU MIGHT LIKE IT..? Haha
Sounds like Managing People and Organisations :(

Haha yeah, it was pretty awful. I stopped going to lectures half way through, Trevor's jokes got to be too much :P

Sounds... "interesting".  ;D I'll see how it goes.
Although I kinda agree with "common sense"; saw some past exam papers once for that subject and I could manage to get most of the MC qns correct without knowing anything about the content beforehand...

What is Accounting Reports and Analysis actually adn what's it like? I'm doing it in second semester purely based on the recommendation given to me by the student advisor that it's useful across all commece fields.

ARA is the foundation accounting subject that introduces you to the fundamental concepts and rules of financial accounting. I didn't do VCE Accounting, but from what people have told me who did do it, it is extremely similar. It isn't overly difficult if you put in a bit of work and are good with numbers. Although I didn't personally, a lot of people dislike this subject because they're reccommended to do it then hate accounting.

Ok, I see thanks. Well I just hope I like it!

Also, to anyone who can answer this, I've worked out (according to the handbook) that I'll have around 13 contact hours a week for first semester. Does this seem reasonable? To me, 13 hours sounds a bit too small a number.
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

Haha that's actually above average for the regular comm student, so get used to it!

4 subjects, each having 2x1 hour lecture + 1x1 hour tutorial = 4 subjects x 3 contact hours = 12 contact hours/week (Assuming breadth subjects have the same hours).

Gotta love uni.

Hahah awesome, I'm going to have to get used to this :D Yeah it's more than that because I'm doing an engineering subject (calculus 2 is 4 contact hours/week). Next semester I'll have 16 though...

I loved calc 2.

I enjoyed linear algebra too, but the exam difficulty leaped up by a heap. We spent 'ONE' lecture on conics and a heap of marks were related to that.

Can't wait to start uni! :)

Ahh that's so scary. Thanks for telling me that, I'll be sure to look at Conics a fair bit.

How come - is it really exciting?
