Are VCE teachers allowed to privately tutor students?

Hey, would just like to know if this is allowed.
Is it not a conflict of interest.  i.e. The teacher will reserve their knowledge for students who are paying them more?

Yes they are allowed. Even examiners are allowed to privately tutor I'm pretty sure.

No. They should be doing their best in class. That's what they are paid for.

Okay, what if I have reason to believe that a teacher has a grudge against me for not using her tutoring services and using someone else instead?

I'd get NATO involved.

Haha but seriously, get in touch with somebody higher up. Don't use definite words such as "he is", approach the subject with great doubt even if there is none. "I'm not really sure, I've just got a hunch". You really don't want to piss off your Principal or whoever by acting like a smartass and pointing your finger quite readily.

Yes they can, just look at the "English Super Tutor Bloke". He is a teacher at Xavier, assessor for English and also tutors.

I highly doubt this would happen, would be real unprofessional. Just go see the Principle or Deputy in charge of staff though if you think it's happening.

My methods teacher tutors privately and as far as im aware he doesnt accept students from our current school.

He doesnt hold a grudge for using a different service, he's just an asshole overall.

[Only do that if your convinced he has a grudge against you, cause if your wrong, it might not turn out so well.]

dw, I am going to.  i just want some opinions.  shes refusing to mark any of my own work.  like if i write an essay on a past vcaa exam q, she won't mark it, and is like, that my tutors job.

she doesn't believe work should be marked by more than one person (WTF?) as she finds it offensive.
tbh, she just hates me because she keeps stuffing up in class and cant accept that she is wrong.

also, does a school have an obligation to ensure english papers are cross marked?
I feel she is going to target me on sacs...

teachers can do whatever they please outside of class time. plenty of teachers are tutors outside of school, quite a few people i know have teachers as tutors.

fair enough if she doesn't want to do it, but she is afraid that what she says will be different to what my tutor says. then she gave me the spiel about teachers knowing more than tutors, even if they got 50, a perfect enter and are studying lexicology at melbourne uni.

....and i've consulted vcaa assessment reports that prove what she taught was wrong.

Hmm, from hearing that I wouldn't value her markings anyway

sad thing is, she teaches the course to other teachers, and she is an exam marker. :(

If in doubt, just follow what the teacher says to do (to get the marks from her in SACs etc.)
However, these teachers definitely shouldn't be holding grudges against any students for matters outside school, you don't HAVE to use her services
