Yup, this is because the process of getting in involves UMAT first, then interview, then VCE results (usually the interview is before VCE results release)

Doubt it. After all, universities went to the interview process to get away from assessment from merely academic performance. They won't be coming back any time soon.

From the information i have gathered, they will not be scrapping the interview. Quite the contrary, Uni's are placing greater emphasis on the interview, as verbal communication and the ability to think on your feet is very important in the field of Medicine.

out of interest, what were umat cutoffs like before melbourne scrapped undergrad med?

were they lower than the present 91-93%ile at monash?
surely it would have been less competitive for undergrad spots yeah?

Hmmm I have no clue what to say to the last question. But I'm quite sure that the MBBS at Monash has gotten alot harder to due the Melbourne Model. In fact so has engineering and law.

Well, thinking logically, just about all of the UMAT-takers now intend to go to Monash, so the cut-off for the UMAT must be a bit higher to allow for this greater number of students.

When I got an interview the cut-off was 59 (and I got 59 ) - no idea what the percentile was though.

Theyve also added some more places i believe *dont quote me on this*
ERC and BMP also make up a decent chunk of admissions.. i know 25% of places must be bmp
