Select-entry School's SACS such as MHS CONFUSION!!!

There have been many many posts on SAC moderation but this one is specific to Melbourne High School/Mac Rob.
A few questions on SACS:

1. WE get harder SACS! To come Rank 1 in MHS is equivalnt to a Rank 20 in a shit school....its f'n hard, much harder than schools such as St Kevins
[ no offense to any1..just an example ]...
The question is...do we ranked up just automatically cuz we're in MHS/MacRob? An A+ on an MHS SAC has got to be worth more than an A+ on a St Kevins SAC.........its just injustice.....how does the SAC business work for SELECT-ENTRY SCHOOLS?

Cheers,

Well, it doesn't depend on what school you go to, it depends on the exam results.
I guess selective schools would do better on average on the final exam, and that is what the moderation is based on.
DON'T WORRY! :)
Remember, remember the 5th of November

2010 - MM CAS (47) - Cisco 1+2 (pass :P)
2011 - Eng - Phys - Chem - Spesh - Latin - UMAT
ATAR - 99.00+ plz... :)

Feel free to PM me for anything :D

No.

Moderation is based entirely on the cohorts performance in the exam(s).
The process is exactly the same for all schools. Though the exam grades by which moderation is completed should be higher in a select entry school, assuming the cohort's exam performance is stronger than a 'shit' school. Hence, the moderated SAC marks should also be stronger. Though it really is all dependent on the cohort's exam performance; if everyone at MHS 'screws up' the exam, then it is possible that no one would get an A+ for SAC's.

But as the.watchman said: don't worry. You'll get what you deserve.

Most of your SACs will most likely increase. For Methods I got internal Bs, Cs and one E, and in the end it magically went up to A.

Well i actually go to MHS (and i'm in year 12 too :))

I think it depends mostly on the subject - the subjects which i'm quite sure scale up assuming you do somewhat okay include bio, psych and accounting, not too sure about chem and physics. Though with bio if you maintain a B+ average with your SACs and you get any type of A+ on your exams, your SACs should scale up to A+ (though a low A+ SAC score).

Well the MHS psych sacs aren't terribly hard (our last one was quite easy) so i doubt you'd be spending 5+ hours just studying for one. Hearing last year's year 11 psych cohort, most of them basically cram psych the night before the SAC and they do alright.

You shouldn't be too worried about SACs anyway...i assume that for psych an A average would be good enough. Plus you'd just need to get mid-high A+s on both psych exams for a 47+.

...year 10 why are you so worried about 3/4s now? Chill :)

Well everyone says Crocket is better than Kakolyris...i did unit 1 psych with crocket in year 10 and unit 2 with Kakolyris last year...i don't find that there's a substantial difference in their knowledge of psych and if you're hardworking at psych then it doesn't really matter which teacher you have. It's really a matter of opinion.

It depends on the subject. I don't think a B at MHS in art would scale up to an A+; a similar average in chemistry probably would. The distribution of SAC marks relies on the distribution of exam scores.

At Mac.Rob last year, there were 3 50s in physics. Obviously only one of those came from the top ranked student. In English Language, I'm pretty sure that the girl who scored 50 didn't come in the top handful.
