At our school we have four english classes (~75 students). I was wondering if anyone knows how they would cross mark our SAC's. Is anybody in the same situation and how is it done at their school??

YEH! we get our sacs crossed mark and first our own teacher marks our sac first and she seperates her calsses standard as low medium or high and then these piles get marked by other teachers to see if your teacher has marked to harshly or too linient. then they have a discussion and then u get ur marks back.

i'm prepared to be devastated =.=

So is it probable that every english teacher will read every single essay written to maintain fair marking??

I think its a good system because some teachers mark a lot harder than others *cough cough my teacher cough cough*

Same. First our SACs get assigned a mark by our own teacher, then all the SAC papers are organized into piles - A+ pile, A pile, B+ pile, and so on. Each teacher is assigned a pile, and I believe only 2 teachers mark each paper unless there is a large difference between the 1st and 2nd mark, in which case the Head of English decides the mark.

My teacher told me my class rank today, and then said that could change due to cross marking. How frustrating, I was so proud of my rank and it could be changed because another teacher may think my work isn't as good as the next rank. :(

We don't need to cross mark. Both our english classes are run by the same teacher.

Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

I think in my school, they take one essay from each different kind of grade, e.g, one A+, one A, one B+...
and they compare it to the other teacher's A+...from there they work out the indiscrepancies and if there are many, then that teacher's work needs to be reviewed.

In orals, the teacher sat in for a few and discussed it with the actualy class teacher.

My teacher is one of the more experienced one that is an assesor, so basically nobody contests with her. If anything, she changes other teachers' marking schemes.

^ Yeah I was wondering what they do with orals, but I don't think my school will have another English teacher to sit in on people's orals. Hmmmm.
