Ah, so can someone please explain to me the other ones ?
We only learnt "from the x-axis"

'From the x-axis' means vertical dilation, yes?
So this is equivalent to 'parallel to the y-axis' because the y-axis runs vertically

Both are used but 'from' is definitely used more

I thought translations would be said like "translated x units in the positive/negative direction of the y-axis" (x units up/down)

nvm i interpreted the post wrong
and btw i thought today was friday :D

Yeah you got it right dude, i expanded it wrong and got 1/2 instead of 1/4..
