In heinemann I read that is possible. Is it true?

Umm... electrons are generally negative... soo... i don't know

Could you post up a quote from Heinemann? Perhaps that would make what it's referring to a bit clearer.

I think you've misinterpreted the textbook (if what I think you read is what I found).

Is this the piece you read?

'The charge carriers that transport the electrical energy throughout the circuit are usually electrons, although in certain circumstances they can be positive ions or a combination of both.' Pg. 117

Oh yeah, thanks n.f

Electrons are not positive ions.

However, any circuit in general just requires some kind of transport of charge, whether it be positive or negative. So you can have electrons flowing through a circuit, or positive ions flowing through a circuit, or even both simultaneously.

In chemistry you can get both occuring with galvanic cells. The positive ions flow via the salt bridge, while the electrons flow through the metal and in the wire.

Yea, that's the quote as it says "they can be" so I thought they meant electrons?

I think 'they can be' refers to 'charge carriers' not the electrons :P
