i dont get how this works 1 mol of H2SO4 contains 2 mole of H+ but how can the H2SO4 equal to one mol because isnt there more amount of substance :S

i have this mole ratio thingo
 n(H2SO4)           1
__________  =   ____
n (H)                  2

and i dont know why its 1/2 and not 2/1
please explain this ju\ibby concept :O
karma to everyone that helps cause i really need to get teh basic concepts of this thing... : :'(

Thinking more logically, for every split-up molecule of H2SO4, there would be two molcules of H, yeah?
So for every mole of H2SO4, there would be 2mol of H, thus your ratio of

so basically just take mol as being the term molecula..if u put it that way i get it...
so for every H2SO4 molecule there are 2 molecules of H+ likewise to 1 mol and 2 mol as just being a unit yeh?
so when they ask the mol ratio they are stating the mol of the compound which is 1 mol of H2SO4 ratio : 2 mol of H+ in the H2SO4?

You can think of it as: for every mol of H2SO4, there is 2mol of H (rather than your explanation, which although more or less correct, assumes a particular amount :))

The best way i've found to think about it is looking at mol as just another number.
So imagine mol is 20 things
i have 20 cars --> 1 mol of cars.
but if i take off all their wheels, i have 80 wheels.
80 wheels --> 4 mol of wheels.
Therefore, n(cars) : n(wheels) = 1 : 4

It is the same thing with the sulfuric acid example and the mole equalling 6.02x10^23.
6.02x10^23 H2SO4s will dissociate to give 12.04x10^23 H+s.
Or, 1 mol of H2SO4 gives 2 mol of H+
Therefore, n(H2SO4) : n(H+) = 1 : 2
