They are random biological molecules that cannot be classified into polysaccharides, proteins or nucleic acids, and due to their lipid like properties (being insoluble in water) they are classified as lipids.

I see, lipids are insoluble in water because of their amphipathic nature, so since steroids n vitamins are also amphipathic, they are also lipids~!

thanks :D

i think its more correct to say due to tis nonpolar or hydrophobic nature/regions , not amphipathic which means it has both polar and non polar regions (which it does)

Just becareful remembering that only *some vitamins* are fat soluble, like vitamin A while others are water soluble like the B vitamins (B12, B6, Ect)

Must we know this? Like which vitamins are polar/non-polar etc?

nah... you don't need to know that ...
and lipids are insoluble because of the fatty acids ... they are non-polar ..
