yerpp :) how did you go when you did AFC? HD?

Yeah, HD.

I only lost a mark or two on AFC1000 mid-sem as well, if I remember correctly... but AFC1000 was a new unit at the time, so they probably made the test easier for my cohort, just so they'd be sure we wouldn't all fail.

so at the end of the semester how do they calculate what grade you get? do they crunch everything down to a % and then if you get over 80% then u get a HD?

so at the end of the semester how do they calculate what grade you get? do they crunch everything down to a % and then if you get over 80% then u get a HD?

They add it all up, in proportion to what each assessment task is worth...

So you got 44/45 on an assessment worth 15% of your final grade - that's 14.67 marks towards your final result.

Say you also have an assignment worth 5% of your final grade and you get 7/10 for it - that's 3.5 marks towards your final.
Then say the final exam is worth 80% (15 + 5 + 80 = 100) and you get 96/100 for it - that's 76.8 marks towards your final.

You'd add up those final figures: 14.67 + 3.5 + 76.8 = 95 (results are rounded to the nearest whole number) = HD

(I know that's not the assessment structure for AFC1000, but you get the idea...)
