What is the maximum number of C in a hydrocarbon that would still allow the hydrocarbon to be gaseous at room temo?

I was under the impression that it was C5 and above are liquids, until probably around C30 or something like that.

does this differ between alkanes, alkenes and alkynes? i.e. the number of carbon atoms for a hydrocarbon to be liquid, solid or gaseous

edit: actually i remember from yr 11 chem, yes.

Stonecold is correct in saying that in alkanes, C4 is a gas and C5 is a liquid.

Alkenes and Alkynes have a double bond and are bent so would have less dispersion forces between the molecules, hence most are gases and wont turn into liquids until higher
