For implied rights, we were told not to say 'free speach' but rather to use the phrase 'freedom of political communication'... was this just our teacher or everyone?

correct. we don't have free speech here. but it's implied in the constitution that we have freedom of political communication... sorry can't answer it any better. it's in area of study 2 (Unit 3) in my notes if you want a more comprehensive answer

Just to add to that
We have the implied right to freedom of political communication because of the implied right to vote. In order to live in a stable democracy we must be able to discuss politics and political parties.
There is a case study that expands on this right through statutory interpretation. Something about a man handing out flyers saying the queensland police were corrupt or something. The courts found this was protected by the implied right to freedom of political communication because politics extends to the police. Or something like that.

You probably didnt need to know that or didnt want to and Im probably wrong anyway, unit 3 was too long ago.

So is it right to say that it is implied in the Constitution?

my book (making and breaking the law) states it as an implied right. so I assume it is.

aight... sorry to do this when the issue appears to be solved, but I thought that the right to vote was a quasi-implied right, whereby it was implied in some of the representative gov't sections of the c'n that voting would be a right, however that high court case with that woman in prison (sorry i can't remember the names) found that some people such as prisoners and alike lost their right to vote... thereby making it sort of a right, under some cirumstances but not as concrete as the others.

Also, can someone define sufferage right?? I'm a little lost on that bit.
