I think we mostly fell into this trap because this has appeared in trial exams and we probably thought its the same one..

Whether they take 6 or not I don't know, but my teacher marks exams and I may be able to find out this Thursday.

I just find it strange that they would mention double carbon-carbon in the question stimulus, but then in the stem, only say 'double bonds.'  To me it doesn't look like a mistake and they did it on purpose.

The number of carbon-carbon double bonds in a molecule of cervonic acid can be determined by titration with iodine, I2, solution...
... ... ...An addition reaction takes place between THE DOUBLE BONDS in cervonic acid and iodine

Curious... Would iodine also react with the C=O bond?

That's what has been said. In the stem it only refers to carbon-carbon double bonds, then in the actual question it uses "double bonds" without qualification. It can indeed be assumed that the question is referring to the same double bonds as the stem, seeing as the stem and question are meant to be used in conjunction with one another, but I'm not sure if VCAA will recognise this...

I doubt they'd change their mind (However, I will sign :D )

I think it was quite legit with the question and I accept it if they only take 7 (but I too will sign).

something I just realised, the majority of the exam had marks lost for english rather than chem (by english I mean wording, the disputed questions have wording that is very precarious)
