Is portfolio investment the same as indirect investment?

I've tried googling doesn't come up with anything, but from the definitions I think they are the same, I'm not sure though need some confirmation.

Thanks

Portfolio investment is basically where you invest in a large group of companies e.g. 1000 shares in BHP, 500 in Woolworths, 345 in Wesfarmers etc. Whilst an indirect investment is where the person will invest their money into a managed fund whereby other people will purchase shares on their behalf.
