Hi,
Are we allowed to use tabs sticking out of our reference books for the exam?

No tabs are allowed in the exam however folds (eg. doggy ear things) in the book are allowed(someone clarify this)

If you want to  know where something is make a table of contents and glue it into the front cover of your book or highlight the sides of the book with different colours.

I just glued the "tabs" onto the side of the page, so when u go thru the pages, u can see which topic your looking at.

ummmm technically, ur not allowed tabs (the notes cannot be bigger than A4), but like....they'd NEVER bother to pull you up on this.....

If you want to be on the safe side tho, don;t , you can howeer, like.....indent/fold pages or have a contents.....

You shouldn't have to use ur notes anyway tho.....i mean, if ur already thinking about ur bound reference now, i doubt ur gonna need to use it :P

In your bound reference you should add something to read after you finish the exam. That would be interesting.

not strictly related to tabs in a reference book, but what i suggest to anyone in the process of making reference notes, make a front page a formula sheet. It is a lot easier to access than the formula sheet they give you, and i found it very uself to have one there. I would also write all over the front sheet with extra fomulas and tricks and caculator promts to remind me of any tricks i should use. Just useful to ignite ideas :)

I didn't even glance at my reference book. And neither do I foresee any situation where it can be of great assistance, for a prepared student.

I didn't make one, rather I just used Derrick Ha's lecture book with the itute notes stapled in the back. I think it more beneficial to do practice exams, rather than writing notes, especially for maths. (Though I never ever write notes... )
