Notes?

This is more a question than a suggestion...

The front page says "Our notes system contains pages and pages of notes contributed by students who have attained study scores of 45-50." does this mean all notes are by students who got 45-50? if not how do we tell which are like you say?

You can't really. I've never agreed with that statement anyway. Basically, a 50's persons notes may not be the best notes while a 40 students notes may be the best.
That has no association to myself but basically all notes that are submitted are of a very good quality. If you want to verify the quality ask someone on here about their thoughts on a member and you can get a better idea.

It's harmless information. I wouldn't dismiss the correlation between effective notes and the author's study score - it certainly exists, but of course there are other factors. If the author wishes to include it, they might as well.

I agree with you Coblin but I don't think that a Study Score is solely a reliable indicator of the quality of notes. A person with a 44 could have better notes that a person who has a SS of 45 etc.

he didnt say that....

coblin said there is correlation, he did not claim a direct relationship
theres a difference

It's just my wording. I don't claim that he said it was the sole indicator. I was simply rephrasing my own opinion in the same sentence as agreeing with Coblin. I should have full stopped it and gotten rid of but.

Yeah. Well it's up to the reader to decide how to use the information. Even if SS's only explain 5% of the quality of the notes, it is better than having 0% information on the quality of the notes.

I would think that the rating system in place at the moment would be a much better indicator. But the fault with the current system is that it relies on the user to rate the notes which probably doesnt happen.

ok so when it says notes are from people with 45-50 study scores its wrong then

obviously a cheap attempt at a marketing ploy?

I don't mind that they aren't all from students who gained 45-50 as I agree just because a student got a high study score doesn't mean their notes are the best, nor does it mean someone with a lower score has 'worse' notes. It's just interesting that it says they are when they are not...strange??

LOL. Are you a spy for BoS?
I'm pretty sure the initial plan was for the notes to be from users with SS's between 45-50 but when put into practise it would be almost impossible for this site to generate enough users to fill the quotas for each subject. It doesn't really matter to be honest. Most people on this site don't complain; they see the free resources available to them and take full advantage of them.

Obviously a cheap attempt at a marketing ploy? Excuse you? Have you even LOOKED at any of the entries on the notes system? More than HALF of the notes submitted were from people who achieved study scores of 45-50. Considering that we're just starting out and only have ~40 individual files, that's more than 20 files and roughly more than 70 pages of 45-50 quality notes. I'd say that counts as "pages and pages of notes" submitted by students who obtained 45-50.

... I don't appreciate your tone, especially when you CLEARLY haven't bothered to research the notes. The 45-50 study score notes say so in their description (usually). I advise you not to insult my character like that again.

I have compiled a list of some of these notes for your ignorant pleasure:

There are roughly a dozen entries for Legal Studies from a person who got 50: - http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=info&id=2 (I uploaded them on behalf of the person)
Biology notes AOS2 unit 4 - 50 - http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=11
English Media Analysis Notes - 50 - http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=52
Literature notes - 50 - http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=19 and
Psych notes - 50 - http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=18 and a 50 quality ERA: http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=17
MM CAS notes - 45 - http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=62 and http://notes.vcenotes.com/?step=download&action=feedback&id=57

You want more?

How come enwiabe gets so defensive so quickly? It's like my friend. She's so easy to wind up. It's actually pretty funny.

And for me, the notes are kinda pointless, because no one does my subjects (or in the case of Lit and Methods, you don't need notes).

I guess it was the delivery of tia's concern... "obviously a cheap attempt at a marketing ploy?"

Aahh.... I guess there's a reason then. Skim reading is obviously, not always the way to go.

Rietie, Costargh's on the money. "Obviously a cheap marketing ploy" insults me twice.
1) It calls me cheap. That's not so big, but
2) Calls me a liar. Goodbye calmness.
