hi,
first of all sorry i'm new to this and i'm in year 10.
if i'm doing 1/2 Maths Methods in year 11, then i can go to either 3/4 Maths methods or 3/4 Spec Maths in year 12?
can you do both 3/4, Methods and Spec in year 12? If u can do both do they count as 1 exam or 2 exams?
thanks, =]

They are separate, but you would definitely be aiming to do 3/4 methods in year 11, then 3/4 specialist in year 12.  It will reduce your workload dramatically.

can you just do specialist? as in 1/2 methods in year 11 then go to 3/4 specialist in year 12?

well.....i don't knwo about whatever rules there are to prevent that, but i think it would be foolish to do sepch without methods 3/4.

If you are good enough to do spech, you should have no problem doing methods. Not only does it give you an extra score, but it lays a good foundation for when you do get around to specialist.

EDIT: it now occurs to me that i may be anwsering teh wrong question, but not, you MUST do GMA to do Spech in year 12, just methods 1/2/ is not enough.

EH xD. Whats GMA? General Maths ......? and do you do that in year 11 to do spec in year 12? :S
currently im in year 10 just doing maths methods (its not 1/2, 3/4 or anything like that. In our school at year 10 you choose to do either maths core [for dumb people] or methods) do i need to choose methods 1/2 next year if i want to do Specialist in year 12? or do i choose GMA in year 11?
sorry im new to VCE its doing my head in
cheers

Umm... i would say pick methods 1/2 and GMA (general maths advanced, its the spesh 1/2) in year 11. then in year 12 do methods 3/4 spesh 3/4

im assuming your year 10 "methods" is like the 'enrichment maths' they had at my school. it does a bit of stuff for methods and sort of leads up to it but isn't actually a vce subject

yes your right it is like a "enrichment maths" class. and if i do 1/2 methods and GMA in year 11, do i do 2 exams for year 12? im guessing you do. and that means i have 4 other subjects to do english?

In year 12, you have 2 exams EACH for methods and spesh, so 4 in total at the end of the year (no mid year exams). Depending on your school, you will have to do either 2, 3 or 4 other subjects including english
