...was actually good with that old woman. she was so eccentric and amusing.

You were there???

I was right at the front.

I thought it was good. The questions were so-so but the fact that she actually told us stuff plainly about marking etc. was great.

Did you hear her say gets zero. To get marks you need brackets .

That is crazy...

The lady said they were going after brackets, so if in doubt, put 'em in.

One situation I can think of where this information is particularly pertinent is with an integrand; if there is more than one term then you need brackets. But I believe they are often forgotten. This is where marks may be lost under a tight marking scheme.

Eg. <-- WRONG

EDIT: Another thing that she said was that there are only 15 examiners. And that they each take 300 exams home with them... Sounds dodgy to me :S

It explains it all... the math of the exams aren't hard, the marks are hard to get cos of the anal marking system

I think if you look hard enough at a sqaure you may come to the conclusion it is a circle.  ::)

Yeah, I think it is, for this year. But next year there's probably going to be Mastering the Exams, Mastering the VCE and Blaster Lectures again.
