Ask your teacher what you need to know, not sure what you want us to say considering this is an entire area of study... just look at the study design on vcaa for this area of study for what you should know.

Learn subdomain information, such as (Syntax, Morphology, Lexis etc) ;
Prosody of speech, such as Inflection, HRT, the speed, pauses.... what they mean etc ;
Maxims of conversation, should be in textbook this one ;
Relationship status of the two speakers...what's the bloddy effect?  ;
Linguistic data such as Overlaping, Adjacency pairs, Opening, Closing, Turn taking... ;
Conversational features such as Backchanneling, hedging, sarcasm ;
Then...If youre really keen, go and learn on Aussie language characteristics! Its linguistic affects .

:) Hope thats a brief yet 'Okay' overview for you.
