Three mid years in Year 12
« on: August 14, 2010, 09:52:11 am »
Hi, I'm in Year 11 and I'm going to have three mid years in Year 12: Chem, bio & psych. I'm hoping for above 38-40+ raw for all three. Is it possible? How many hours would I need to put in and how do I study for all three midyear exams in time? :S

Also wondering if Chemistry would be really hard to study considering I have two other subjects requiring a lot of memorisation. Should I fast track chem over the summer holidays?

Definitely possible, it's up to you the amount of work you put in for each as we can't tell you how difficult ~40 is for each.
Teach yourself the course for at least 1 extremely early, or perhaps 2 and start exams early for all of them.

You should start past papers a month before the exam for all three subjects

For every subject over 4 you are doing, they should be completed, start to finish during the summer holidays, plus an extensive preview/reading of all other subjects.  Always remain ahead.  That is the key to VCE IMO.

I didn't do this, and kicking myself for not doing it.  And I somehow have to finish UNIT 4 of every subject before my September 1 deadline so I can start practice exams.  Even 2 months before seems like I am pushing it.

hey
its funny because im in yr 11 and doing those exact 3 subjects haha ..
i think honestly .. just put alot of work in and you will do well
how many hours? .. well its really diff for everyone .. see im doing 4-5 hours a night . but u may only need to do 1-2 hours.

also .. just if your wondering if its possible to get 38-40 raw.
yeh definately i mean .. i got A+ psych .. B+ bio .. and B chem .. and thats just kus i made stupid mistakes ... you probz wont make dumb mistakes like me. you should just start studying for them early . the mid years come at you really fast .. and when you have 3 in 2 days .. you really need to be prepared before hand.

persnally ..if i was you .. id focus a little on 1 mid year more than others ( like i did for psych) to ensure you will get atleast one 45ish + study score. ... but ontop of that . make sure you really study hard for other subs.

goodluck
its achievable
keep at it bro :)

=.= I'm in year 10 and i'll be doing 3 mid-years next year also. I'll study for 3/4 Biology the most, for obvious reasons.

I'll put in about 3-5 hours at LEAST each night. Hwaiting~

I had 3 and didn't think it was that bad. Started practice exams for chem and physics about 2-3 weeks before the exams (did 10-15 for chem and about 5 or 6 for physics), and didn't do any practice exams for bio.

Got A+s, not sure how high they were though.
For bio I just did a lot of revision reading in the 2-3 weeks leading to the exams.

Oh, I also did checkpoints for chem and physics throughout term one and two.

Good on you! Haha, well a bit of a relief to know you can have a life with three mid years :)
