I don't care if people muck around during recess and lunch. I mean, it's break time. What really peeves me is how I got stuck with all the slack people in my spare, and so because they make so much noise in the library, you can't concentrate in there and with the librarians getting pissed off and the fact that they'll kick *me* out too when I am working legitimately, which means I don't study in the library anymore. So nowadays I study in the corridor, on the floor, and when the weather gets better I'll study outside. Not ideal but quieter than the library til the bell goes.

What annoys me even more though is the people in classes that don't pay attention. And the kids that get all cocky because they've been getting good marks all though the year then slack off and don't do as well as they should at the end of the year, and bring everyone's marks down. I spose it's different at other schools but I don't understand *why* you'd pay to come to a private school if you don't want to learn. It's just money down the drain.

Are you talking about people who talk or mess around at recess and lunch too? People that take a break during their breaks? \
We dont all have the pressure of asian parents and their expectations, we also like to take part in activities that have nothing to do with education or getting a job in the long run. I think its important to be well rounded, to have interests and to devote time to things that were not forced onto you by parents or anyone else.

Also.. learn 2 english.

+1 to a certain degree. People should be able to use their breaks... to have a break if thats what you mean, occasionally i play counterstrike at lunch but its my break so why should anyone care?

Maybe because they have to go to school and not because they want to?

It's definitely not cool if they're shouting out in class or distracting the teacher and ruining it for everyone. However, if they're *quietly* chatting or not doing their work without disrupting anyone, who are you to say what they do, its their life and you cant tell them how to live it like some kind of fascist nor should you really worry about their life either.

Just try your best to ignore them.

you should be hitting your head against the wall when your in my position and you have people who dont do any work in class and still somehow beat you.

Sympathies man, I've had that happen to me too.

Just laugh at them and their future of cleaning toilets :)
You're not really superior to anyone or better than any person even if they do clean toilets imo. Sure they might of been a tool in high-school but imagine how much their life would suck if they were cleaning toilets.

At our school the canteen is used as a "Study hall" for your frees, it's dead quiet. The chick who administers it used to be a former cop...she definitely has spine crushing potential. Nice and quiet... too bad i only get 2 free periods a week...which are in the mornings... so i use them to get some sleep for a change.

To me the classes at school are quite ...  limited ... in their usefulness. The way my teachers "teach" is not that great: textbook regurgitation, for the most part. I much prefer to read it myself. A lot of the time I'm mucking around in class, or simply staring into space.

So I would say that not engaging in classes is not a certain indication of not caring about learning.

But yes, I do understand what you are talking about and at times these people seem quite out of place. But worse than that, I think, is that they have so much potential if they dedicated some time to their subjects and leaning.

I know in the "year 12 treehouse" (aka room with couches, study desks, a microwave kettle and fridge) stupid people like the ruin it by eating in there and having crumbs all over the place and leave food in the fridge so that it goes off so no-one dares to enter the fridge and the microwave is just gross with sauce splattered on the screen.

...not to mention that I go to a private all-girls school so there are Taylor Launter/Robert Pattison/you-name-it pictures stuck on the walls

next year I'm only going to use that room for the kettle to make tea and coffee and as a potential spare room after school to study in :|

edit: LOL awkward post count number *feels immature :D*

Ah we can't look down on people doing further, IMO, I would probably do worse in further than in spesh. Damn statistics.

I totally agree. However, i can get quite lazy some of the time and not do work for awhile so the stuff i pick up when i listen in class is valuable.

We have 2 private study rooms. If the main study room is full of these people, I can just move to the other. Although the thing is, the room itself is so gloomy that I don't feel like studying in there..

However, I don't really understand why is it that I always have to put up with these people and go somewhere else to study. I usually put headphones on to keep myself from getting distracted from them -- which also meant that doing my english hw is not recommended.  :tickedoff:
