has anyone else read this book? anybody thinking about writing on it for the exam?
I for one love this book and can see endless possibilities of themes to discuss. I'd love to discuss the novel with anybody and share my views/values as well as learn a few things myself.

This has been my favourite novel in lit and one of my two pieces will definitely consist of atonement.

It was a text that my class considered, but ultimately the length of it put us off.

Being the nerd I am, i HAVE indeed read Atonement, but our school isn't formally studying it as a text -- I read it for the heck of it a few years ago, when I was about 13 or 14. And hence, to be honest, i don't really remember it too well, but i do remember it being a good read.

I wish the exam test had authors such as Matthew Reilly or even Stephen King.

You categorise Reilly as literature? Some of King's stuff could be, but Reilly? Really?

Anyway, I loved Atonement (I should get around to watching the movie) as well <3

haha na, but anything by him is an amazing read :p the movie isn't so great, you actually feel sympathy towards Briony (if you haven't read the book) and not to mention she keeps the same haircut from 13-77ish, wtf?

This year's the first they're doing Atonement. It was a bit hard for me to get into the book (as i've found alot of other people aswell), but once you're into it, dammnnnn =P

Devo. I love everything to do with that story. Saw the movie first, bought the book immediatly afterwards and devoured it. Ah! And really? You felt sorry for Briony in the film? I just saw her as a self centred bitch really. I think I actually felt sorrier for her in the book. I'm so pissed off that I didn't get to study it. That being said, our school NEVER would have let us anyway. *Sigh*

yea in the book she's so arrogant and self-centered, i can't stand her. For our sac, my essay pretty much went into detail of how much a bitch she truly is =P. But in the movie, when she's looking at the camera, her eyes seek forgiveness and you kinda get the sense she truly is sorry.

No one else struggled to get through it like me?

I read up to around where Robbie is in the french forests, then realised we wouldn't be studying it and put it back on the bookshelf. That's one for summer holidays when I have more patience!

I really liked atonement, after the sex scene everything prior was so monotonous. However I REALLY liked it after aforementioned moment. I'll be writing on it in the exam.

I've read it for next year.

But I think it would be hard to write about it    and it's quite a long novel

Theres alot of stuff once you read between the lines

the only downside is lack of internet help that is present for the shakespearian and other works

but there is things like

a) Destruction
b) Austen Connection
c) The relationship between a writer and their characters/books
d) Atonement ( :uglystupid2:)
e) Sins
f) War
g) class war
h) bout to write a analysis and it shames me that this is all i can come up with thus far haha
