Internship help~

Hi, I was just wondering if there are many internship opportunities available for 1st year students? I'm a 1st year comm/law student at monash so im probably targeting those 2 fields!
I know its early in my degree but i really would like to get out there and get some related experience! I'm getting bored with my part time job and don't feel that its contributing much to my resume...
If any1 has any related experience with internships and where to find them, please do share

I'm doing the same course but at Deakin.
Apparently you can't get internships this early in the degree, I think you mainly can only get an internship in your penultimate year (end of 4th year) or if you're exceptional at university (great extra-curricular activities and grades) you may be able to get one at the end of third year.
Even if you do decide to apply I don't like your chances of getting one at the end of this year sorry most internship applications have closed.
I think your only chance of getting experience in either fields at this early stage in your degree would be through volunteer work or through work experience.

penultimate year = 2 last year, so if your doing a 3 year degree, you can do a summer internship at the end of your second year.
