It looks like Media Influence will have an extended response this year. Better start practising, folks.

Could this really be? Another VNer who does media? haha. Where's Chairman Mao? He'd be excited haha.

Yer I saw that a while ago, would have preferred it to be in narrative but I don't really mind too much. Just praying they don't put some weird question on there. I can't afford to stuff up media :(

How've you been going throughout the year and how do you feel about media influence?  :) It's probably the one you can wing the least unfortunately haha.

I guess that rakes up the tally to 3. :-)

Narrative is my weak spot - I need to revise that big time. - I pray the question has nothing to do with censorship. All these years there's never been an extended response on Media Influence.. I have no idea as how to practise it.

Fairly consistent, A's for my SACS (minus the narrative, did poorly in that one. 28/40) and I think media influence is okay. I have the basic theories down (I'm using the Hyperdermic Needle Theory / Uses & Gratifications theory) . Haha true, social values is basically outlining the story again through 'representations' =)

By any chance, do you have any narrative section notes that I can have? Like an outline of story/production elements etc.

Then there's the index of each of them with detailed explanations on the right :)

05 VCAA had a media influence extended response so you might want to take a look at that.

What narrative texts are you doing?

Scream and Psycho. They're really good to analyse together.

We were meant to do run lola run instead of scream but thank god we didn't. It's so much more complicated and looks way harder to analyse haha. I feel for you

Wow. That seems super easy, in terms of compare & contrast.. those 2 will secure you a pretty high mark for section A :P.

What's your weakest point? And how are you going for studies in general atm? What are you doing?

my bets on compare and contrast communication theories that oppose each other and state evidence that supports or is against those theories

Well I'm not sure, I haven't lost any marks in media this year  and my teachers an assessor. But thats just cos I've been studying consistently throughout the year and it's my favourite subject so the information seems to just stick easily. Although I'd have to say some social values questions are a bit annoying and then so are some media influence. My favourite section is narrative :D I use Scream whenever I can. Opening scene basically has everything in it, so I'm lucky my teacher chose it haha. For exam revision I'm gonna just go through both my films again and list 2 examples for every production and story element in both films. Then for social values I'll just watch the main episodes of bewitched again, apparently we should have 8 solid social values for the exam :S Then for media influence I'll just be going over regulation because there's quite a bit of stuff we need to know there but I think I'm okay with the theories.

Um. I'm not sure how much study I'll get done. I'll be sure to go crazy after chem cos media is my last exam. But for the moment I'm concentrating on the other subjects I've neglected cough methods cough. I've already done 2 practice exams so I'll probs just do the rest of the vcaa ones and hope for the best come dec 13th! Worried about the exam a bit though, I ALWAYS freak out in exams and stuff at least one part up that seriously affects my score. I've yet to have one really solid exam. Praying it's media but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

How about you? What are you planning?

I think that's a good bet! haha. There's not really much they could do. Either a big question on theories or regulation. I'm praying it's about theories though.
