The hardest exams I've done so far have been:

  • CSE 2009 Exam - Question 2 of this exam was different. =P

I haven't done the VCAA 2008 Exam yet, but just looking through the exam I think it is far and away the hardest VCAA paper yet.

Yeah that paper was hard, anyone know what the A+ cutoff was for that?

I'm assuming you mean the VCAA 2008 exam. The cut-off for A+ was 75/90 (83%) which was quite low. =O

http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vcaa/vce/statistics/2008/section3/vce_accounting_ga08.pdf

I'd be expecting this year's exam to reflect that level of difficulty (could be slightly less/easier than 08') considering last year's exam was easy which was reflected in the A+ cut-off, which was 81/90 (90%).

I don't really think any paper is harder than another strictly speaking. It's mainly the clarity of the question that catches people out and for that, Insight 2010 has been the worst one so far.

Anyone done insight 2010? I didn't like some of the theory questions on that. Also, alot of tricks in Q2.
Lost about over 10 marks.

Is that the one with the Bank overdraft that the answers didn't have? And no mention of Payments to Creditors or Discount Revenue?

Poorly written exam. Very poor.

Really? I thought that exam was quite easy. I lost 6 marks on that exam - I lost marks on that pie chart in Question 2 and a few other silly mistakes. Though I do agree, some of the questions were poorly worded - for some questions it was hard to tell what it was asking.

However, i dont understand why there are mistakes in these exams? I know they are humans, but geez, It's not good!

LOLOL. I agree... Accounting is just simple maths... adding, subtracting. That's really the crux of it. Personally, I think TSSM are probably the worst at making mistakes. I haven't done any of their exams, simply because I know there will be errors.

I found that generally NEAP, Insight, QAT and COMPAK were the easier exams. The harder ones for me were: CSE, VCAA 2008. Obviously the more recent exams (i.e. 09', 10') are harder than ones from 07'.

I started doing VCAA 2003-2006 (adjusted) papers! =P I ran out of exams to do. LOL.

The list of transactions was stupid. Especially when, in the next part, there was another transaction for that year which was not to be taken into consideration.

As in Question 1.1.1 - Recording the payments in the Cash Payments Journal?

The ending period was 31 December 2010. All the payments were made during the period and the Sales + Purchase Return were made in period as well. Am I missing something?.. =S

Maybe I'm talking about the wrong year Insight. Just checked the answers and it's not the 2010 one then again the school does slightly edit our exams.

Was there a previous year's Insight which had a question where you had to list all the Current Liabilities?

That could have been the Insight 2009 exam.
