Yeah, going to Singapore and am likely to miss O-Week for uni. So is it important? what happens there? are you seperated into your courses?or is it just everyone new to uni as a collective group? Is this when you make most your uni friends?

Depends on the uni, but I think most unis separate you into faculties (I mean, Monash might have something like 8000 new students... can you imagine squishing them together?).

O-Week is pretty important in terms of making friends, joining clubs, and generally settling in to uni.
You also get a whole lot of administrative information that's good to have.

Depends on your uni. If it's Melbourne or Monash, O-Week is where you make heaps of friends, go on pub crawls, join clubs, go to barbeques, etc. You definitely miss out on a fair bit if you're interested in that, but you don't even have to go all week if you're not. If it's one of the other unis, there isn't as much of that anyway so there's no real pressing need to go.

If you're actually going to get into the clubs/social things I guess, yeah. Otherwise, not at all.

O-Week is overrated. Seriously will not make a shit of difference whether you are there or not.

Unless you are desperately wanting to go on pub crawls with a bunch of uni gimps

Definitely not worth missing/cutting short your holiday.
