dont think, write.

Haha, easier said than done methinks. I always seem to write the first sentence and then ponder what I should write in the next, only writing it down when I'm happy with how it sounds in my head. It's a bad, bad disposition, but I can't seem to get rid of it - I dunno I just feel bad when I just write without thinking.

It's so painful to leave the writing 'unpolished', but, honestly, most of the time the 'imperfect' original sentence is fine.

Brightsky, I totally understand. I am in ESL, and that drives me even more to make everything sound as perfect as it can be.

Just write a lot under timed conditions. I think this is a stage that everyone goes through?

smash it out. just let it flow. just get that idea on paper; quicker you get it down, the more time you have to go over it at the to make some quick revisions.

Write, and be concise, then you'll have your review time at the end, to fix any transition words or grammar.

If you go slow, you just won't win the race.

The worst is the intro and 1st paragraph.

After this you are usually home and hosed.

If you get stuck on a sentence then just write something lackluster and move on.  You don't have time to waste 5 minutes on a sentence.  Also, the examiner will probably forgive the occasional spelling error or ineloquent sentence.

They won't be too nice if you run out of time though...

I have this exact same problem. Every single sentence has to sound top notch, or else I feel really paranoid that I'm not going to receive a good mark.

I do this aswell, it's the main reason why I struggle to write practice essays. How do you guys go about making revisions at the end of the exam? Do you cross out the sentence and write it in small writing above the crossed out sentence?

I dunno...I feel that every sentence I write is written in a decent way, and the concept of revising my sentences to make it perfect doesn't even cross my mind. I don't really have doubts about my spontaneous writing expression =/

Double space your writing and this is much easier since you can cross out the sentence and write it above in full size rather than small writing.
