sooo you reckon with the CM itll be a 'show how he is used..' question?

i hope so, I actually like those type of essay topics.
Thats a bit specific? How can you discuss that broadly?

those ones with asking to show how the common man is used are pretty annoying and difficult because you've pretty much have to focus the majority of your discussion on  one character.
the only thing i think i would do if i chose that one would discuss: his effect as a character, effect as a dramatic device; and then a rebuttal/further discussion paragraph saying how he isnt  the only character which influences how we understand the play..

You can broaden common man prompts by splitting him up into his various guises.

for show how the cm does... essay topics, i always include the whole brechtian alienation technique thing and how he changes character to suit the environment blah blah blah but i always include how he is used in contrast to other characters, mainly More. CM serve's himself and only worried about increasing his chance of survival whereas more isn't worried about that at all, rather he is driven by the desire to please god and maintaining his principles, so he pretty much elevates more and positions the audience to see a strong conscience and strong principles as an admirable trait.

Did everyone know there's notes on the back of the book for certain phrases that are said and such in each page? I only found out last night...wish I'd known earlier.

Do you guys usually take the text in hindsight? Discuss More's anachronism and relevance to today's society, as well as Bolt's intention in portraying More in such a 'holier-than-thou' light?

Bolt made More out to be a christ-like figure, reminiscent of Jesus. Essentially, Sir Thomas More was a man, albeit one of transcendent values, nearing superhuman.

Has something to do with "survival" come up yet?

there's been:
How does the Common Man enable the audience to understand the complexities of More’s character? (2007)

After the execution of Thomas More, the Headsman announces: “Behold–the head–of a traitor!” Do you agree with this view of Thomas More? (2008)

‘The play suggests that few people do what is right; most people do what is expedient.’ Discuss.(2008)

More says: “I do none harm, I say none harm, I think none harm”. ‘More’s decision to place his principles above his family is difficult for a modern audience to understand.’ Do you agree?(2009)

The Steward says: “The great thing’s not to get out of your depth . . .” To what extent are the characters in the play out of their depth?(2009)
"Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something, not even me.  Alright?  You got a dream, you gotta protect it.  People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it.  If you want something, go get it, period." - Chris Gardner

every year so far there's been something about More

I'd say high chance of something to do with symbolism and metaphors.
