nelson i feel doesn't go into enough depth. it's ok as a class-room text, or a reference text, but i feel one would be disadvantaged if they didn't at least read through NOB...

can't comment on biozone, but i did fine using the two above (predominately NOB, but as revision and while tutoring this year i have seen a lot more of nelson, and have read both cover-cover)

Nelson is far better at explaining concepts than NoB is, but it has less examples and detail. I'd recommend getting an ebook copy of it to refer to for stuff you don't really understand or want elaboration on.

I also did the neap book (for exam prep), apparently it is written by the guy who writes the real bio exam

Hugh Latimer? He's the chief examiner, not the chief exam writer. The chief exam writer cannot teach year 12, nor write any books, nor teach prep lectures, etc.
