My school does offer English Language, but this year, not enough people chose it for next year.

So does anyone have anything to say about English Language at CAE?

THANKS.  ;)

I did it there a couple of years ago and it was really good.  A few others here are doing it this year so hopefully they'll chime in with their two cents.

I think it's still a morning class so no sleeping in :(
The teacher is good, but a hard marker and you will be encouraged to write essays.  You'll get out what you put in.

^ stonecold does it there this year, and maybe you had a different teacher binders, but he was saying how terrible his teacher was as she didnt know anything, etc.
he'll probably be able to see this this thread and comment further..

though, if i was to repeat englang i'd be doing it at CAE.

note to cambridge: i'm doing it at RMIT at the moment, and the teacher is fantastic, so there's a note, however its twice a week which is annoying.

Thanks vexx.... how could you be doing EL at RMIT??

RMIT is a tafe, like CAE, i'm doing it as a single subject outside school since mine doesnt have EL.
i'd consider it! though you have to send an application, rather then CAE is just straight off enrolment, so you need to think in advance.

So it still counts towards your ATAR??

And where do you sit all the SACs and exams?

haha, it's just like a school or CAE, of course it counts towards your ATAR
its just the same as vce, though in an adult environment - so only classes.
SACs all in class like every other school, same with exams.
(though i get to do mine at my home school since im allowed to :) )

Wow.. thanks for telling me about this guys!!

I don't think I should apply for the Melbourne/Monash enhancement studies now... :D

I'm glad my whole VCE timetable plans aren't stuffed now.

So when are these classes for you? After school?

rmit is after school weds, and friday morning, but i have spares arranged for them so its fine.
cae is tuesday morning for 3hours, so youd need perhaps 3 spares then, or 2 on friday morning and you should be set.

CAE only has one lesson a week right?

I just checked RMIT's and applications close tomorrow.. a bit too late now.

I guess CAE will be better then, as I won't have to travel too often.

I swear to god you will regret this.  Just do distance ed.  The teacher is awful.  I have an email from her shouting at us all for not doing homework.

Even RMIT would probably be better!

RMIT's last day for applications is today....... what if you do the homework though? And can you explain why she's bad? LOL.

Tell us in class that we don't know how to write essays.
Tells kids in class that they can't read and are going to fail.
Points out that a student with a disability has a speech abnormality in front of the class
Has no idea what standard australian english is
will not mark work that your tutor set for you
sends you emails full of shouting
grades your cuttings journal which isn't even on the study design.
springs surpirse sac's on you and sets you a 3 day deadline to email them in
is massively bias towards and against certain students

do you really wan't me to keep on going?

do yourself a favour, just do distance education, and find yourself a tutor.  write plenty of practice essays during the year and you will be fine.

and also, rmit will take late applications.  mine was like a week late in year 10 and they still took it.
