Language Analysis Question

One thing i don't understand in regards to the language analysis is as follows; Because the piece was a transcript, can you refer to the "readers" as reading the transcript of the speech and/or as an audience listening to the speech. I've heard a large amount of people saying that if "readers" was used, it is wrong.

Would anybody care to clear this up?

Cheers!

I used the word 'audience' most of the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if I slipped up once or twice and said 'readers'. Either way- it's not that big of a deal, compared to the actual quality of the writing. I haven't ever come across a comment on the ER saying- "Lost three marks because didn't say 'reader/audience'.

I think the general contention is one should have written of 'listeners' and 'the audience.'

That said, this is minor. Your mark will come down to your analysis of how language is used to persuade. This sort of thing is the side-dish to a good mark.

Was talking to an examiner friend of mine who said, at the lecture the examiner had about marking, they would accept either at any point in the essay. Also, they said that the opening slide was only going to be considered for those that talked about it (because I skipped it completely and had to ask), haha.

Relief. Totally missed the opening slide as well.

Hi, quick question - I accidentally referred to a technique as a pun instead of a cliche (stupid I know, freaking exam stress!) and then analysed how it persuaded the audience in general.
Do you think this would cost me a mark? Overall my analysis was very strong in my opinion, in the 9-10 bracket
Thank you!
