Matrices module, exam two 2009.

Question 2.

'Evaluate the matrix W=PQ'.

Would calculating this on a calc suffice? Or would you advise to calculate manually?

It's only worth one mark, so I interpreted it as a calc question, although there is a large amount of room for the response.

Thank you in advance!

yup if it's only 1 mark, you just need to show the answer.

Yes, since it's 1 mark just give your answer..if it was worth 2 marks then show your working..

so P [x,x,x,x] X Q [y,y,y,y] = W

So would you guys recommend writing down all working out for each question? or only for 2 marks+ questions?

there's not much point writing out working for 1 mark questions unless it's for your own benefit, because even if you get correct method, you won't get the mark since it's for the answer. just stick with working for 2+ marks q's IMO :)

I doubt the examiners would want to consume that much time on simple multiplication and addition when they have to test our skills in all areas of study. I think there will only be one mark questions in relation to that.
