I recommend Explosions In The Sky. They're instrumental and very calming.
Go now and listen.
Anyone know any other similar instrumental stuff?

Haha I always use sigur ros whenever I listen to music and study. They're so good!

There are some death cab songs I always use too, even though they have lyrics they seem to work.

"Your Bruise", "Summer Skin", "Passenger Skin", "Brothers on a hotel bed", "The employment pages", "Marching bands of Manhattan", "I will follow you into the dark", "Transatlanticism" and "Tiny Vessels" are all really good.. I have the volume down pretty low though. It's more background noise.

You'd probably interested in Mono then. An EITS clone but a really good one.

More stuff:
Godspeed You Black Emperor - F♯A♯∞ *
Godspeed You Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! *
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden *
Mogwai - Young Team *
Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
World's End Girlfriend - Hurtbreak Wonderland *
Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I
Dirty Three - Ocean Songs *
The Evpatoria Report - The Evpatoria Report *
A Silver Mt. Zion - He Has Left Us Alone but Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corner of Our Rooms... *
Fifths of Seven - Spry From Bitter Anise Folds *
Tortoise - TNT *

Some are less accessible than others but all are good. * is stuff I think you'd like or that you should

I cant sit in silence unless it in an actual exam. It drives me nuts. Being left all alone with MY mind in a room. O_O Who knows what could happen?

Love death cab
Love your hand in mine
Love acoustic

And yes, but silence doesn't help me, rather irritates me. But the adrenaline of an exam means I don't notice the silence, but no adrenaline when studying :)

And thanks heaps clanyx, definitely taking a psych study break to look all of them up.

Currently listening to Gershwin. Is also good.

My study playlist starts with Four Tet remixes of Madvillain, then Absolution (perfect for studying) then Surfa/Rosa and Kid A to finish off.

When studying albums work well, you don't want songs on shuffle or you spend time sifting.

Reminds me of Rodrigo y Gabriela

Wow, I though I was the only one who needed music to study 24/7. :)
Anything instrumental or in another language is always best, because you don't end up concentrating on the lyrics whilst sitting a prac exam.
"I throw my hands up in the air sometimes singing Ey-oh' - mmmmm Deep. *Cue for 2 minutes of procrastination before resuming the question*

Haha I understand that.
But I listen to Classical music and violin music and end up sitting there fingering the parts, which is just as bad :P sigur ros is good for being calm and in another language (for the bits that have lyrics anyway)
