I'm gonna buck the trend here, I hate music while I'm studying. I always end up listening to the music and losing focus... Maybe it's cos I'm not into the same sorts of stuff as you guys, I'm into a lot of british rock, radiohead, yeah yeah yeahs, bloc parry, lior, Jamie T, aussie hip hop... and quirky euro-techno stuff.

I like chucking ear plugs in when studying so I can't even hear the sound of my pen on the paper... I work so much more efficiently and I take everything in more... like a sponge.
Yeahs Yeahs Yeahs and Bloc Party ARE really really good! haha Anyone who isn't listening to these two is missing out big time haha.

If you're into blues/funky music for studying, try
- The Cat Empire
- Blue King Brown

And also 80s band
- Duran Duran
Is great for easy listening.

Btw, I'm surprised no one has brought up the mozart effect yet. Classical music boosts your marks, hello?
Where are the Bach, Schubert and Rachmaninov fans? You sir, how about you sir? Did I hear someone say Chopin, Handel? No. Must be my imagination.

love the cat empire and bkb
I'm a classical violinist of 11 years, I love classical. But I can't listen to it when studying coz I either finger the violin parts on the desk, pick out what notes the violins are playing (partial perfect pitch) or analyse it like mad coz I do music styles :P

Duran Duran, you say? Karma for anyone who can (without googling) tell me where they got their name from.

Named themselves after Doctor. Durand Durand from the movie, 'Barbarella.'

Starring the incredibly hot, Jane Fonda.

Guys come on, come on.

Melbourne hardcore. Dream On, Dreamer. Best band in the world.
2011 - English, English Language, Philosophy, Indonesian SL, Outdoor and Environmental Studies.

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”
― Hunter S. Thompson
