Insight 2010 Exam 1 Q2a?? Transposing fractions

Could i please have some help with this question. I don't know how to transpose it

From 3x-1 to the form of a
------ ----- + b
x+1 x+1

3(x-1) +2 / (x+1)

= 3 + 2/(x+1)

sorry im poor at typing maths on comp.
