Just do some essays today. This time last year, I did my only 2 essays. Typed them on the computer and spent like 4 hours on them :D

You can't go too wrong in the exam considering the passages you have to write on are right in front of you! Not like English where you're remembering quotes and evidence.

all you need is to know the general themes of whatever text you're doing, that's the most important part!
if you know them you can relate them to any passage you get, just write and write and all will be well!

Just try to write a well-crafted piece with a nice interpretation. If you keep a focus throughout the essay, imbed heaps of quotes (this isn't hard seeing as the passages are just THERE and you just have to copy) and chuck some literary devices in - and not forget HOW they impact the views, ideas, etc. that are expressed - should be cool. I think the downfall is the fact that other students know awesome words which they use and describe and convey their ideas in a ridiculously intelligent manner. :(
