don't be a smartass bomb ! haha

:D

Btw, I found this on wiki regarding Decay theory:

Quote
...Thus, decay theory mostly affects the short-term memory system, meaning that older memories (in long-term memory) are often more resistant to shocks or physical attacks on the brain.

Actually we're all wrong:

Again, off wiki -

It is widely believed that neurons die off gradually as we age, yet some older memories can be stronger than most recent memories.

So it's the one about old people remembering their childhood...

ahh god looks like the consensus on here is that 30 is A. I thought I was right after my teacher said it was B :(. Oh well. I was tossing up between them and wasnt sure. At least I can hang on to the very slim chance of me still being right
Dude, one word for MC is not bad. Just be thankful you weren't unlucky and got more wrong. I know I'm counting my blessing after seeing other people stuff up which is sad :(  Exams are so subjective. It's not fair. Hope everyone is happy with their scores on the 13th of dec. I'm expecting some very very impressive scores from vners for psych ;)

Well even if that's right, it said "according to the decay theory" so only B and D could be selected anyway. Option C (old people) COMPLETELY contradicts the decay theory so it couldn't possibly be right.

Yeh I spose so thanks. The problem is that I don't know if that was trhe only mc I got wrong and I know I lost quite a few marks on SA. At least not knowing the answer is better than misreading it I in terms of annoyance. Sorry to sound daft, but could you explain to me one more time why B is wrong?
Well firstly it says "emerges". This is incorrect already as the response "reappears" in SR. It was there originally then comes back AFTER extinction. Furthermore, the behaviour is the SAME not similar it's just weaker. So there's two things wrong with that. While option A has nothing wrong with it. Hence it's right. Sorry :(

B is wrong because a 'period of time' doesn't mean extinction has occured, extinction HAS to have occured for spontaneous recovery to occur.

I'm sorry to say, these are most probably right. I checked basically all of them with my teacher who's a gun at psych. And I'm praying there right! Otherwise neither am I hahaha.

Ummm. I'll be happy to explain answers if somebody got something different....AFTER my last exam ---> 15th of Nov.. Unless it's something quick and easy..

i put motivated forgetting.... arrrghh

i thought if the grandma is healthy it rules out age-related memory decline

shilayli i got 2 diff from yours, question 6 i know for sure i got wrong.
question 15, im not sure if i shaded B or D because they basically trick you by switching the two memories around.
I hope I shaded B :(

Q34 is D - Because the kids are kept inside until they say "sorry" or "please" etc. Which in term removes an annoying stimulus and in term stregthens the likelyhood of that responce happening again.

Not sure about Q34:
Another strategy Maryanne used was to keep the students indoors, when they wanted to play outside, until they used the words 'please' and 'thank you'.
This is an example of:
a)shaping
b)punishment
c)positive reinforcement
d)negative reinforcement

Shilayli, you've said the answer is D, but I chose B.

I can sort of see how both answers could be right, as from the students point of view it is negative reinforcement, as they are getting rid of the negative stimulus (playing inside), but it could also be punishment for not using 'please' and 'thank you', with the teacher keeping them inside.
Hmm.

Punishment ALWAYS attempts to decrease the likelihood of a particular behaviour occuring.

Maryanne wanted them to use the words please and thank you.

This means she wanted to INCREASE a behaviour.

The only way to increase behavior is reinforcement.

And she removes the aversive stimulus of staying inside.

Hence D.
