1 question: for the trig question did it ask for x value or general solution ?

Yeah, 5pi/6 isnt a solution so you'd lose one mark.

Trig question asked for the values of between -pi and pi that would give the solution.

for some reason i also got 5pi/6 how much marks would i lose?
you will lose one mark

(also must state nature of stationary point and why)

 :( i didn't do that...

did it even ask for that? ..
I'm 100% sure it didn't. Would be retarded if VCAA penalise people for that...

Why would you need to state the nature when the question already said maximum?

@simon, yeah far out, spent ages trying to figure it out, first ratios, then did something with the volume. Didn't know that i was doing..

Find a ( apparently 6/125)
Anyone remember?

I think it was 3 for the probability table

Anyone want to post up how to do it? I know that you add all the probabilities up and then make them equal to 1 but I couldn't solve for P from there.

VCAA's excuse (if they penalised) would be that the student needed to show the examiner that the stationary point is a maximum, because if it turned out to be a minimum (it isn't btw) then you'd have to take either end-point\

I think something like this happened in 2007 VCAA exam 2 Q1 extended

for the g(x), did we need to write it in function notation, stating the domain???
it was 1 mark so i assumed it was just for the rule .

i wrote it in function notation just to be safe. i think just the rule may be acceptable though.

hopefully you didn't have to write the domain

but we don't know how pedantic VCAA might be

for the probability question....
I was soooo dumb not to know how to factorise it - WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I left it as 16x^2+6p-7=0
would I get 1 of the 3 marks or 2......

why am I sooooo dumb not to factorise it!!!!

yeh same here.. i got 1/2  first but wen i sub it back in the table it somehow didnt work.. i did it again using quadratic formula and i got some weird surd stuff and i just left it at that..  :(
