UMAT advice

So who else is going to do the UMAT this year?

I’m about to register for the UMAT but cannot decide whether to just buy one, both or all three ACER practice question booklets/test or not buy any at all. I’m not too sure what I want to be studying at uni, though I’ve considered for some time maybe optometry or pharmacy but these are very ambitious goals which at times seem very improbable. This uncertainty is one of the reasons why I’m reluctant to spend money on these resources. But just in case I do miraculously achieve a high enter score I thought I should take the UMAT more seriously, considering that there are other students in Victoria who are doing a prep course (MedEntry etc) to give themselves the extra edge (which I haven’t done).

Here are my queries:

* What’s the difference between Practice questions Vol.1 and Practice questions Vol. 2?
* What’s the difference between the Practice question booklets and the practice test besides quantity (one  is  a full test and the other is half the size) ?
* Does ACER offer any past UMAT tests similar to how VCAA does with their exam papers?

Thanks =)

I don't think you can actually get hard copies of UMAT past exams....

If anyone can tell me the answer to the queries on the top that would be good, because I'd like to know the difference too.

Firstly - my deepest condolences that you'll have to go through the hell that is the UMAT :P

* What’s the difference between Practice questions Vol.1 and Practice questions Vol. 2?
I'm pretty sure they're just a bunch of UMAT-style questions which ACER decided to put into separate volumes for god-knows-what reasons. I bought both last year - probably a good decision seeing as there really wasn't that many questions per volume

* What’s the difference between the Practice question booklets and the practice test besides quantity (one  is  a full test and the other is half the size) ?
What practice test ... ?

* Does ACER offer any past UMAT tests similar to how VCAA does with their exam papers?
Nope unfortunately, the only UMAT practice offered by ACER are those practice booklets

I'd say get all of them, yeah :)

EDIT: seeing as they're the only questions released by ACER itself, and they're not too expensive either

Does the one book ($18) from the two have the three sections of the UMAT inside or do you have to get the two books together to get the 3 sections included altogether.

Each book has one practice exam, that is, an exam with all three sections of the UMAT inside. :)

no each book isnt a full practice exam, books 1 and 2 are only half an exam (but both include qns from all 3 sections). the 3rd book is a full length exam though. I am also taking my chances for non standard entry to medicine by sitting the umat this year

no reading time, part of the test is whether you can answer questions accurately AND quickly
