How hard is it to get a 35 in chemistry without the 1/2... The course I want to do requires me to get 35 in chemistry... but theres a problem, I have a TERRIBLE chem teacher... I tried to learn it myself, but im not that gifted so that was a failure, and then I asked my parents if I could have a chem tutor and they said next year

so... how hard is it to get a 35 raw in chem without the 1/2, If I had a tutor (coblin), tsfx intensive workshop program and a better chemistry teacher next year...........

Is it possible to do chem without the 1/2 or will that end up being a disaster

It is possible, However, make sure that your tutor (coblin) goes over the basic knowledge of unit 1-2 as they are the building blocks. Furthermore, make sure that you start with him a bit early- and most importantly- Chem unit 3-4 isnt easy, so it will be very hard work. 35 is Achievanble if you put your sights on it, but it wont just fall in your lap

Chemistry is a subject which builds on previous knowledge, If it were physics you'd have little to worry about. I mean, it's still possible - you can do well in chemistry - but you're going to have to catch up.

Take in as much of the organic chem, acid/base and stoichiometry stuff as that makes up a fair chunk of Unit 3. The history stuff plays no bearing.

i'd strongly recommend against it.

unit 3/4 builds on much understanding from unit 1/2, mainly the atomic model and bonding. organic chemistry and stoichiometry are also very important concepts. and most of it in year 12 relies on previous knowledge (reinventing the wheel takes too long)...

if you are doing it now, take great effort in understanding the atomic model as well as you can, it is a GREAT help for year 12 :)

organic chem is the main problem!!!

phew thats a relief about the history stuff

I have no trouble with the equation part of chem, its mainly the theory and the diagrams =/

we havnt started acids and bases yet so hopefully that will be a bit easier

we've got a month til the exam.
the bulk of the learning involves organic chem, instrumental analysis (just learn the different applications, no need to go in depth except for NMR and mass spec) and volumentric/gravimentry analysis.

best of luck.
