Jury q

A lot of kids from my school and my cousin didnt know what retention meant..
they thought it meant to abolish

So said they were against it, but wrote reasons to keep it.... as they assumed retention meant to abolish
so they said disagree but wrote reasons for (which is what retention means obviously)

Since im with my cousin, he is asking how many marks will he lose for this careless error?

Wouldnt you have had to write ads and disads of juries and then make a decision like 'juries strengthen the legal process rather than hinder it'

I thought it was a question

Give reasons and justify them.. do you support it?

Unless! you are sitting on the fence, I think this question required reasons all FOR or all AGAINST

Yeah, it said to what extent do you agree. So I went the whole way FOR juries and explained 3 advantages of them.

Couldnt I have said that for this reason they're good but on the other hand there is this...... but then also they allow for this but then this can also happen... however overall they strengthen the legal process.... or did you really need to pick a side and only show that side.... i mean i picked a side in the end and concluded saying benefits outweigh the negatives

Yeah, it probably doesn't matter. But generally when they want you to weigh it up they say critically evaluate or critcally examine.

that's what I did, i did like 2 or 3 strenghts, 2 or 3 negatives, chuched a few 'however's' and 'on the other hand's' in there and refferenced what some of the lindy chamberlain jurors said about evidence, then finished with the age old 'I believe that overall the strenghts outweight the weaknesses'... I also refferenced a suggested reform, which wasn't needed, but I felt I needed to bulk up my answer a bit.

I pretty much did the same as that... i even included possible reforms that would further solidify the system but when i read it i definately thought i needed to evaluate the merit of juries..... thank goodness someone else did the same as me

You have 3 options here

For juries
Against (possible reforms)
or you on the fence discuss both

It was NOT critically examine! its basically what you thought

I gave 3 strengths of the jury system. and justified.

Probably 6 marks there

2 marks for the Role of the Jury

They were asking if the jury system should be kept....
I think you needed to say why it should be kept....
and then why it shouldnt be kept.....
and then make a decision......

To me (this may be completely wrong in which case i apologize) but simply giving 3 strengths shows that you believe that the jury system is perfect and that it should be questioned in no way.....

I wrote 3 reasons why it should be kept (which are strengths)
why would it be necessary to write its weaknesses when i believed it should be kept
critically evaluate or evaluate fair enough..
Im not sure, maybe you are right man, I am no teacher, so who knows!
