I hope so, for our sake, that they simplify the exam to a point where we won't be unprepared considering the lack of practice exams. And please, baby jesus, please NO FUCKING ESSAY QUESTIONS OR I'LL GET <30

Rumours state otherwise. To be perfectly honest, this change affects me in no way, in fact slightly helps me, as this question will separate the top-end from the rest of the state. Got to study for everything bro :P

for us, end of study design meant sooo many resources (which was such an advantage) but harder exam.
i'd prefer it how we had it to how you guys
which will most likely be not many resources but easier exam (or if not easier, lots of people who don't do that well so a low A+ mark)

either way, whether old or new study design - if you prepare well, it won't effect your mark that much i don't believe.
either way you've gotta prepare.
good luck '11ers, i loved psych. came out of my exam thinking "damn i'm gonna miss this subject." it's a great subject to study :)

You think Multiple choice will be implemented in the exams? I like the idea of short answer + MC, I do well like that .. It makes things so much more relaxing

New study design looks really good. I'm personally a fan of the mini essay style question they've included, it'll split up the very best psych students. Plus you guys will probably have a more straight forward exam. Best of luck. You need a little luck in Psych, you really do.

I thought the mini-essay question was a rumour and not as yet confirmed?...or you have proof/decent source?

Just our psych teacher went to a 'psych' thing were the examiners talked about next year how they'd discriminate the top A+ performers by an extended response question (maybe 'essay' isn't the right word). So I'm going off what my psych teacher said, she's pretty on the ball with psych.

That's exactly what my teacher said. She went to some conference and it was mentioned. I dunno if they are actually implementing it or not though.

-Learn all the content back to front.
-Stick things you need to remember on your wall and reread them throughout the year (There's heaps!)
-Don't stress out in the exam.
-DO heaps of papers before the exam!

i can't believe they changed the study study design!

my tips would be:
- there isn't anything overly complicated in the subjuct, there is just a lot of content
- even then, the content is all logical, e.g. if you're sleep deprived, you'll get irritated easily, so use your common sense!!!
- its really important to get extremely familiar with definitions, it helps with answering tons of questions
- take the time to not just remember everything, but to really understand the subject and make it make sense to you
- spend the summer learning "research methods". this topic is so important!!! and it's a part of each topic
- easy marks people will often lose is: formulating hypothesis (come up with a basic structure for this, by looking at model answers), iv, dv
- write more, not less
- make mind maps to help remember, make them colourful

plus, remember to ENJOY the subject, it really is a great subject.
a great way to study is in pairs and bounce answers off each other, it really helps with learning.
