But really, I'm probably not as well informed as i should be, but I have just heard that studying biomed->med at melb is a better way to study medicine as you have more medical knowledge anda higher likelihood to go on to specialise than doing med at monash. that could be complete crap, I dont know.

im pretty sure you can specialise just doing med...you don't need to go through biomed

Nothing, that's why I'm saying do MBBS if you want to do medicine. But in year 12, a pretty campus is a big selling point.

I wouldn't say complete crap but it's got one huge assumption and that's that you will get into PG med. If you don't then it was the worst decision you made. And you can specialize fine with an undergraduate medicine degree, that sort of thing is worked out after years of training/work as an intern and resident (ie years after uni)

*rolls eyes* if u (not u russ) want to just go there to look at pretty buildings, you can always go travelling to the city every single day and walk around the campus marvelling at how amazing it is and then go back home >.< <that and *facepalm*

Ok, so jokes about how superficial I may seem aside, there seems to be no major reason to go melb rather than monash for medicine..  And I laughed at what you said about pretty buildings but I know a lot of people picking unis on that basis. but hey, whatever makes you happy (:/)

I picked UoM because it had pretty buildings and I think it was the worst decision I ever made (but hey this way I get to be a UoM alum so *shrug*)

are you serious? would you choose monash sci over melb?

I decided halfway through the year that I'd rather not go to monash (there were various reasons) and would prefer UoM instead. BSc is fine at either.

Why do you think monash is better?

Im going to monash only because my parents work at melb and there will be too much conflict of interest since ill be doing science there and they work in that area...

I don't, my point was that I decided against Monash to do MBBS in favour of biomedicine at Melbourne. Regardless of whether I get into MD, I don't think it's a great idea

Why the negativity on UoM Russ?

No negativity for UoM, I think the biomedicine course is very good.

Oh yeah, so you are saying people should take MBBS undergrad at Monash if they get in before UoM biomed?
