Can a teacher be sacked for doing this???

My sister recently told me this...Lets see what you guys think...

Recently, a team of year 7-9 girls from my old school were playing a hockey competition with another school. They got thrashed so badly that the score was 0-7.

The coach, who was also thier teacher for some subject, started yelling her head off at the poor year 7-9 girls...just because they lost!!! She swore at them and said that they played badly and all that shit. She was soo angry at them that she made three of the girls on the team cry....

Talk about extremely poor sportsmanship!

Im surprised that none of the girls' parents have complained to the school.

The way that the teacher acted seriously went against school's code of conduct and what they advertise to the public....The girls have a right to a safe environment and they deserve to be spoken to with respect...not be sworn and yelled at...just for losing a game (by the way...this was their first hockey game)!!

It isn't right what the teacher did. So wrong.

Can the teacher be sacked for how she acted?? I know its just a one off but seriously...If i had kids, i wouldn't want them to be yelled and sworned at by someone I placed my full trust in...

she should at least get a warning.
file a formal complaint to the principal, see how that goes.

Well...my sister and a bunch of her friends are going to the sports coordinator tommorow to complain.

Yeah. I hope some sort of action happens

Well she actually cant get sacked for that only if she started slaping them or something   :-\

But the fact that she swore at them and nearly made them cry is almost equivalent to slapping...it hurt those girls emotionally

dont go to the coordinator! take it up~~!

and the fact that she swore is enough. take it up to the principals~

think about it, the sports coordinator is the supervisor of the said teacher, do you really think he/she will act on it seriously? that'll look bad on his/her part~

Put your money where your mouth is. With the help of your parents, threaten to leave the school if action is not taken.

I don't know about sacking, but they should at least be severely reprimanded. I wonder if something else is going on? I mean, it is only hockey, it doesn't warrant that kind of reaction.

I seriously have  no idea.
And the school recently made all the teachers give detentions (major infringements) if they caught students swearing because recently it has been happening too much at the school.

And if the teacher swore her head off at the students, espeically to year 7-9 girl, then isn't she setting them a bad example???

She definitely is setting a bad example, not following the school's policies, not being a great leader either. Anyways what I would do is get a few of the parents together, especially the parents of the girls who cried, to make a formal complaint to the principal or arrange some sort of meeting with the principal, possibly sign a petition against the teacher :P(that could get ugly though).

Start by just mentioning to the principal, senior staff that you have a rapport with, what happened. The teacher's behavior must go against what the school stands for [it would certainly contravene my old head's "vision" for his school.] Hopefully that'll be enough to seriously shock them and make them take disciplinary measures.
If, however, nothing is done, then is the time to threaten drastic action.
Same goes for jess3245's case on the other thread

Heh. im a university student.  :P My sister (who is in year 11) told me all about the teacher acting inappropriately.

When I come home today from the uni, I'll ask my sister what response she and her friends got when they told the sports coordinator...(damn...maybe she and her friends should've told the principal...it would've had a bigger effect). But yeah,  I could tell my fave teacher (who I keep in contact with, even though im a uni student) all about it and see what he thinks (OMG!! My fave teacher shares the same office as the swearing teacher!!!  :D  :o ROFL....)

I don't know about sacking, but they should at least be severely reprimanded. I wonder if something else is going on? I mean, it is only hockey, it doesn't warrant that kind of reaction.

A petition would be so cool!!! However once one of my friends made everyone sign a petition to get a teacher sacked simply on the basis that no one liked her...They actually gave it to the teacher that the petition was about but no action was taken.
Yeah. Anyways, if my sister and her friends made a petition and my sister was part of that petition, that swearing teacher could say that my sister was only doing that because my sister hates her (believe me, that swearing teacher knows that my sister hates her...heck!! They don't get along!!! They are sworn enemies!!! she actually coached the year 10-12's girls hockey team last year....and my sister was on that team... :D ).

But would the year 7-9 girls want that swearing teacher sacked?!! Really silly but those girls have always supported that teacher and called her their favourite......they favoured her in such that they were practically "worshipping" her...I recall those girls following her everywhere like sheep at lunch time  last year when I was in year 12...She actually supported those girls soo much that time last year...saying things like that they played hockey 100 times better than the year 10-12 girls etc.....Even if she swore at them, yelled at them and made some of them cry, some of them may still support her..(maybe her swearing was a way of motivating them to win next time or something.. :D)..

But I would really love to see some action done!!!   :knuppel2: It would make the school more exciting!!!

Off topic: I love these emoticons!!  :D :D :D

Yeah, i wouldn't advocate sacking, if the teacher is repentant, a good teacher generally and able to win back the respect of the girls in question

No just get the teacher to make a formal statement apologising to the students ^_^ oh and then to "win" back the students, she should take them out to lunch some place (hehe). Oh and of course never repeat that sort of behaviour again ^_^

Another thing, maybe ask the teacher to see the school's counsellor or something, because there must be something behind her recent outburst =), or possibly ask the principal to speak to her privately, to see what's going on.
