Best things to design.

Apparently packaging is the best, but this seems really mediocre! Any more suggestions? Realistically I'm aiming for 40-45+.

Also, I've also heard it's bad to design anything based around fashion, is this true? If so is it best to avoid design contexts that are gender biased?

design what you would love to design and what you know a lot about. trust me u can get away with designing absolutely anything. My design tasks across the years were MP3 player packaging, bottle product design, a spaceship to feature in a HALO game and a logo for a military faction within the game etc.

the last design task was particularly fun and ridiculously enjoyable.

be rebellious and design something that u will like

I really have no idea what I'm going to design.
I wanted to do a picture story book but my teacher shot that idea down.

Do you think perfume would be a good idea?

Recalling a discussion between some VCD students at MHS a while ago, I recall them saying that watches were the best thing to design. Not sure why though.

I had a train theme so I designed an architectural train station model (as a I wanted to get into architecture) with re-designed 'connex' train cards (general graphic design).....if that counts for anything.

sick! i was actually thinking of doing a building model too. how did you make it? the only thing putting me off is the time restraint and making it look professional as i'm a bit of a perfectionist.

do something you are good at.
For me, I focused on anime (haha) and shop interiors for unit 4 and a castle design for unit 3...

But lots of ppl tend to do CD covers / posters for movies/concerts

so the general consensus is they'd be keen for obviously original designs, but also original contexts as well?

ANIME>>> did i hear ANIME??

dude, there is no such thing as a SILLY thing to design. have NO boundaries, design WHATEVER you want to design. past students have designed anything from underwear to pyjamas.

a fellow student of mine who is remarkably talented did an anime folio and he excelled at it. why? because he LOVED anime and was good at drawing anime. so if YOU are good at/ interested in anime, then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????

go design it!!!

do not let your friends or your teacher stop you!

when i told my teacher i wanted to design a spaceship for the new HALO game, she at first was pretty apprehensive. but in the end i had the last say and i got full marks for my folio. furthermroe she admitted that it was a very good folio herself and encouraged me to submit it into top designs.

so the lesson here?

there is NOTHING silly to design

design whatever you want to, you will seriously enjoy it. you will surprised that a VCE subject can be sooo much fun. design what you ALWAYS wanted to. WHATEVER it is. practically ANYTHING in this world had some sort of a design process behind it. so u literally have the world to chose from and make sure u chose somethimg that u are infatuated with.
