Good pacing and annunciation ends up being roughly 100 words per minute.
I think we have 6-10 minutes - but it's not the school that sets it, I think it's the same for all vce schools across the board.

It's the school that sets it, VCAA gives no direction on time.

oh wow, really?
That kind of... annoys me.
You'd think they'd have the same rules across the board.

May add that into my actual speech on how the education system is flawed :P

Yeah have a look at the study design and you can see all of their instruction for SACs. They're pretty general the only real restriction is on what sort of a response it can be. I don't think it's that bad though, students are only competing against students in their own school for their SACs (essentially), then marks are calibrated across schools by VCAA.

LOL, go ahead :P

Yeah, feel free to post in the general English/ESL area and people will help you out.

Hey guys

I'm doing an oral presentation on Year of Wonders
Do you think using a video to generate audience interest would be a good idea or would i lose marks from straying too far away from the text?

If any of you have read Year of Wonders, I was thinking of showing pyschological studies on how people conform to gender roles/follow what others are doing and how different people react when faced with danger.

I just thought about something

Does the issue have to be Australia related?

I'm thinking the intrusive Airport Security scanners
sometimes I feel as if I'd be more enriched in life if I bought an RV and started cooking meth

This is from VCAA: 'a point of view on an issue currently debated in the Australian media,'

But umm, my school never told us the issue has to be Australian? It's not even mentioned in the marking criteria, and I've chosen Wikileaks -.- Do I go ahead and do it anyway? My rough draft of my speech doesn't have much references to Australia though.

It's different from school to school, vcaa only gives guidelines, so just ask your teacher

Well I'm doing wikileaks, and my teacher says it is Australian. My oral is in the forum so you can go check that out.

Oh, thanks everyone. Yeah I read it, it sounds really good ! I love the start :) I guess I just need to relate it to Australia more, maybe with Gillard and stuff.
