Honestly, if I had done this at the start of the year, I would have been stuck for everything after question 1. >_<

Edit: Pretty good paper on the whole though. I'd do it. =)

Ow, I didn't intend for it to be too difficult, I think there are some things like the period, range, and factorization of a cubic which really are musts for knowing by the end of 1/2 though :X

After doing 1+2, would say that it is tough, but do-able for sure. Good work taiga!

Aah that's good to hear sorta, I did want to make it easy-ish though :X

Sorry, my comment was kinda stupid. I didn't do units 1/2 so at the start of this year much of the stuff on that paper would have been quite foreign to me. Once again, a really good paper. What's your intention with making these? A once off or...?

Haha that's good :)

As for making these, I'm going to focus on writing another one of these for Chem, and also working in teams with other VN members to construct 3/4 trial papers.

I am only writing individual ones for chemistry, methods, and gma transitions from 1/2 to 3/4. I think it's something that hasn't really been done before, and hopefully they are of help to people. I also don't mind if tutors (individual private ones) use them to gain an idea of where their students are at, as this was the one of the main purposes of writing this.

I do have a couple more, but I don't intend to release them to the public at this stage, as I'd like to keep some exclusive, and also I don't think they are applicable to a wider audience as much :)

Sweet. I'll definitely look forward to seeing the chemistry one.

(I would +karma but I'm kinda newb :P)

Great work! :)
Most of it's relatively simple after having done 1/2.
One or two questions did seem a little tricky though.
I'll wait for answers to check (:
Hope we get to see more of these soon :D

5b should read the x-axis, y-axis, the line x=-2, and the curve

I think you meant 3b taiga...

Hey taiga,
great exam, really helpful!
The only question i got stuck on was 3b...
I hope this isn't a stupid question but...when you get a chance; could you just type out the method on here? I looked at the solutions but i'm a bit confused at how to work that one out.

thanks heaps!

Basically the question is asking what the area bound between the curve, the x-axis, and the y-axis is.

We can do this by finding when the graph hits x=-2 and the y axis (-2 and 0 respectively)

Then we integrate the function in question with respect to x, from -2 to 0. This is the most common method of finding area under the curve in methods :)

The solution there has it in its expanded form however.

If that doesen't clear it up just ask :)

Will we ever be given a domain of 0<x<7?

Also, does getting the log question right, but then moving the y to the top get marks?
