@Keo you plan to start doing practice exams?

That's my aim. By finishing Unit 3 early, you'll have time to do heaps of practice exams, while everyone else is still going through the Unit 3 course. The more practice you do, the better you'll get.

I know what you're trying to say but starting to do prac exams before school has even started is a bit extreme imo. Also you may not have learnt some of the concpets properly which would be a problem..

QFT, this was my ideal way of approaching Chemistry also.
Is it just me or most chemistry teachers don't precisely teach to a adequate level?  :tickedoff:
And to swarley i'll only be finishing unit 3 over the holidays and making sure I have a clear understanding before I move on to practice exams.

Although if you dont know it thoroughly its pointless. You'll skip the finer details.
I got to the point where I could immediately recognise eveything on an NMR, where it was, what it could be, the exceptions, etc. etc. etc. and I was guessing the exact questions that would appear on the unit 3 exam. I was right for most part, I just over-predicted the difficulty (I wanted something really difficult, much to my dismay).
But I didnt go ahead and do heaps and heaps of practise exams throughout the whole term. I did everything section by section, because it is more manageable. Instead of practise exams, do topic tests instead, such as using Checkpoints, Neap Studysmart, or the text book (I didnt like the text book ones but still a valid source)

i'm organising myself, ensure i'm prepared...
and i'm going through another textbook different to the one we are doing at school
writing notes
doing some questions along the way
noting anything i don't understand
it's not really THAT different from units 1 & 2 so its not hard to grasp the concepts eh.

I got set holiday homework from school, but on top of that i am working through a book called jumpstart unit 3&4 chemistry by Nelson, it summarises unit 1&2 chem and then extends into a bit of stuff covered in 3&4

Oh, that sounds good, how much did you get it for?
Is the book doable in a week? And does it have hard q's/explained concepts?

I didn't buy it, i borrowed it from my school library
in a week...possibly, but you would have to do about a 3 hrs a day. i'm just doing 2 chapters a week, cause there isn't too many.
yeh it has some really good questions. for each chapter there is a set of summary notes, and a few easy starter questions and then some much more complex questions

the link above is what it looks like and some info, but i think you can get it at any textbook store such as link or landmark; my chem teacher said it should be for students who struggle in chem, but i'm an a+ student and i have learnt quite a bit from it.
