This is sooooo annoying what happened to me in Viscom
I got
Ga1: A+
Ga2: A+
Ga3:A+
And my SS was only 42 and then it got scaled down to 39

Anyone in the same boat as me??

Oh good job. It must have been a low A+ but the scaling is bad for this subject :(.
My exam stuffed me up badly since I had A+ A+ C to get a 34 down to a 30.

The raw score is where it is at though, shows you were in the top 8% of the state though :)

aaw, man i feel for you, but remember:

3 A+s is no indicator of a score,

3A+s could get you a 39 raw and they could also get you a 50 raw, so you cannot expect a good score just from getting straight A+s.

secondly i understand that VCD gets scaled down a lot but it gets scaled that way, as VCAA has empirically determined that the VCD cohort is not as clever as the english(standard) cohort.

for example

i did german and VCD

for german i got 39
for VCD i got 48

german gets scaled to 48
VCD gets scaled to 47

that is because the german cohort is LEGENDERAY and very clever, so being in the top 10% (39) of a german cohort is considered very good and therefore is scaled to a 48

however being in the top 0.5% (48) of a VCD cohort is also good, but not extraordinary and so gets scaled down to 47.

therefore being in the top 10% of a german cohort is JUST AS DIFFICULT as being in the top 0.5% of a VCD cohort. if you get what i mean?

anyway 42 = top 5 % of the state, which is still impressive but it gets scaled down to 39, since the VCD cohort is deemed to be less competitive. I agree that VCD is a hard and difficult subject but, VCAAs scaling is i think quite fair.

personally i thought getting a 39 in german was MUCH HARDER than getting a 48 in VCD. hopefully in teh future though the VCD cohort will improve and so will the scaling. i think that all the VN VCD students here are fairly clever and are being disadvantaged by the rest of the state. but do not avail. your score is still solid :)
